| Jim Courson has been nationally recognized as the #1 real estate salesman in the United States.
Hard work is nothing new for me. When I was 10 years old I was a newspaper boy. At age 11, I went to work at a grocery store at the rate of .27 an hour, and when I was 14 I worked for the A&P food stores here in Augusta. Throughout my high school years I worked in the grocery business until I left to join the U.S. Navy.
When I was discharged from active duty in 1958 my wife, Louise and I came back to Augusta and I returned to the grocery store business. In 1960, I became the youngest store manager of a large volume store in the Winn Dixie chain. People would come in and ask for the manager and I would say I am the manager, they would actually stand there and laugh, thinking I was kidding.
In 1971, I quit the grocery business, had no job, no money, no real estate liscense and had just built a new home... I decided to go into real estate....
In 1975, I was the first member chosen for the Fortune, Inc. Hall of Fame.
In 1976 & 1977, I was named "Georgia Realtor Associate of the Year". I was later honored by the state of Georgia as the only realtor that will ever receive this distinctive honor twice.
In 1977, I was voted Sales Associate of the Year by National Homes for Living Network, being selected over 80,000 realtors from 2500 offices in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
In 1979, I sold and closed $8 Million; a total of $20 Million in 3 years. The average home was approx. $37,500-$39,500 at that time.
In my first 6 1/2 years in real estate I won the Augusta Board of Realtors 'Salesman of the Month' award 36 times. This award is bestowed to the realtor selling the most residential property in the Augusta-Martinez area. Shortly thereafter, a rule passed stating I could not win again.
Since then I have been blessed with much real estate success. I believe REPUTATION is everything and speaks for itself. . .
